Green

It has been a rainy month of May. It has been cool and some days had storms with heavy rain and high winds, more like February. The tree branches hang low, heavy with water. Everything is green. The light has been silvery.

But I am really interested in the moss. It shows up more on the rainy days, glowing emerald in near the puddles.

It fills in the sidewalk cracks.

Patches of it appear on brownstone steps.

It shows up on bricks

And on tree trunks

I gathered some moss from the street and lay it on the table to contemplate it.

I love its velvet texture and its greeness. I want to make things with moss, painting or little landscapes. I am not sure what. For the moment I am just trying to make the moss I found grow. I placed it in some soil. So far it hasn't died but it hasn't spread either. Maybe the strips are too thin to grow outward. I will have to wait and see.

A last bit of wheatgrass

I was going to move on from the whole story of wheatgras, but two people commented on how beautiful the dead plant was. I felt a final image was due.
