Winter Without Snow

We have had cold, but no more snow than flurries. The storm systems pass by begrudging us accumulation. Sometimes we have intense rain. There was some beautiful sunlight just before the snowless clouds swept across the sky.

Downtown

I was on lower Broadway in the financial district this morning, not that I was doing anything financial. I was on my way to Battery Park to see what it was looking like right now. There was a rain storm last night that just ended when the sun came up. Everything was still wet, sparkling in the sun which had just broken through the clouds. Downtown is very dark even in the brilliant sun.

There was pretty moss on Trinity Church

The sun filtered down indirectly on Broadway

I don't go down to Battery Park often, it isn't in the most inviting neighborhood. The last time I was there, the park was under very noisy renovations with jackhammers. It was quieter this time but there were still signs of work being done in the form of this wild plastic sheeting.

I am something of a connoisseur when it comes to construction sheeting and netting. They are usually materials that create sublime light. I have never seen anything like this. And in the distance was some plastic fencing in a pretty blue instead of the usual orange.

It was an improvement over the jackhammers. The fun ended rather quickly, however. I found myself at the Staten Island ferry terminal just as grim as always. But it was nice to stand on the edge of the water and look at the Statue of Liberty. I didn't photograph it, too touristy.

More Parkours

These are a few more pictures from the day I photographed the pakours traceurs.

I am hoping to take more pictures, winter is not the best time for this sport.
